StarCraft II split into three

Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed at their annual BlizzCon event that the upcoming StarCraft II will be released as a trilogy of titles.

Split across three factions, Blizzard's executive VP of game design Rob Pardo revealed the names of the three titles will be Terrans: Wings of Liberty, Zerg: Heart of the Swarm, and Protoss: Legacy of the Void. Wings of Liberty will be the first instalment released in the trilogy.

Pardo went on to say that the Zerg and Protoss chapters "will be like expansion packs" and will be a part of the overarching storyline, though he stressed that they will play like full stand-alone products.

StarCraft II has still not been dated, though it is expected to be released in 2009.
