Nintendo has confirmed that the Wii Speak channel and corresponding peripheral will be launched on December 5.

The Wii Speak peripheral sits alongside the sensor bar and allows a whole room of people to chat and communicate with up to four others across the globe. Miis will be used to represent each person, and the avatars will talk to match the sound picked up by the peripheral. The Nintendo Friend Code system will also be in place to ensure privacy.

Bundled with Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City, Nintendo has also confirmed that the peripheral will be used in other Wii titles to expand its concept of social gameplay.
