Manhunt 2 finally dated
The highly controversial and gruesome action title, Manhunt 2, is finally set to be released in the UK, more than a year after it was released in the United States.
The game has undergone many modifications and has finally made a successful appeal to the BBFC, meaning that on October 31st UK gamers will finally be able to see what all the fuss was about. Manhunt 2 will be released for the Wii, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable.
The game first ran into trouble last year when it was refused a rating classification in a number of countries, the UK being one of them.
The BBFC's main problem with Manhunt 2 was not so much the explicit violence and gore, but more the casual way in which the sadistic behaviour was portrayed. A mere swing of the Wiimote could behead an enemy, but there was little motivation or context for the action.
The controversy no doubt helped sales of the game in areas where it was allowed to be sold, though many reviewers found the game to be a disappointment. The game is currently averaging 64% on Metacritic, a website that collects reviews from a wide range of professional publications.
