PS3 BioShock goes gold

2K Games has announced that BioShock for PlayStation 3 has gone gold.

While Xbox 360 and PC gamers have been exploring Rapture for a year already, PS3 users are yet to be introduced to Andrew Ryan's "utopia". All that is set to change when what many consider to be the best game of 2007 hits the Sony console.

Developed by 2K Marin, 2K Boston, 2K Australia and Digital Extremes, BioShock for the PS3 contains all-new content, such as the Survivor difficulty mode, Trophy support, and all-new Add-On content that will be available to download shortly after launch.

"We are proud to introduce 2K Games' showcase title, BioShock, to an entirely new audience," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "With the addition of the new Add-On Game Content we are able to extend the award-winning adventure while maintaining the perfect harmony that millions of players around the world have fallen in love with."

BioShock is set to hit European shelves on October 17.
