300 director signs 3-game EA deal
Zack Snyder, the director of 300 and the soon-to-be-released Watchmen, has signed a new deal with Electronic Arts to develop three original titles.
According to the terms of the deal, EA will own the intellectual properties, but any film adaptations that might result will fall under the director's Cruel & Unusual films banner.
"Zach Snyder has a fresh and bold creative style that resonates with our core audience," said EA Games' Frank Gibeau.
This is the latest EA deal of its kind for a Hollywood director, following Steven Spielberg's deal, resulting in Boom Blox, and John Woo's Stranglehold.
The deal seems to be following EA's latest trend of developing games that have a built-in propensity for translating into multiple media. Coming this Fall are Dead Space and Mirror's Edge, two games immediately launching with animation, comicbook and other tie-ins.
