Women losing sleep over gaming

A recent study conducted by the E for All Expo and PoshMama.com has revealed some interesting trends regarding woman and gaming. Over a third of the 120 respondents indicated that they would rather play video games than get much needed sleep and that they play games while on the phone.

"Playing video games is becoming an increasingly popular pastime for women, which isn't surprising given that it's a great way to spend time with family and friends, have some fun and even blow off some steam," said Heather Weaver, Technology Contributor at PoshMama.com and author of GeekMomMashup.com. "The surprising element, as revealed in our survey, is that it is actually keeping women up at night. This and the other results reveal that the traditional video game industry has fundamentally changed - and will continue to evolve - as more and more women take over the video game controls."

More than half of the women also revealed that playing games had made them late for meetings with friends and family, though two-thirds of the respondents indicated that they play games largely because they enjoy it and want to spend time with their loved ones.
