Sega has announced that Golden Axe: Beast Rider will be released on October 17, slipping from its initial scheduled release in September.

The prequel to the 1989 classic, Golden Axe, Beast Rider is an action-RPG that sees players take on the role of the scantily clad heroine from the original as she and a band of riders charge into battle on the backs of ferocious beasts.

"Players will discover events that took place before the original storyline as Tyris Flare, the famous half-Gladiator/half-Barbarian heroine, begins the epic quest to avenge her tribe," said Sega.

Golden Axe: Beast Rider will be release for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 17.
