Infinity Ward called up for Duty

Activision has announced that a sixth instalment in the successful Call of Duty franchise is currently in development at Infinity Ward - the makers of the highly lauded Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty is currently in the hands of Treyarch, who developed Call of Duty 3, and are taking the first-person shooter back to WWII (albeit in the slightly less worn Pacific and Eastern fronts) with the forthcoming World at War.

There's no word on when or where Infinity Ward's next game will be set, but it's already been confirmed that the Call of Duty franchise is dropping numbered instalments, beginning with the upcoming fifth instalment, World at War.

Infinity Ward's next Call of Duty instalment is currently set for release in 2009.
